Chat Privacy

Chat messages are screened by an automated system for spam. Messages are generally not stored; however, suspicious content flagged by the system may be retained indefinitely and reviewed by human moderators to improve anti-spam measures and quality control.

At the start of each chat, a session log is created. This includes timestamps, IP addresses, cookies, and similar metadata for both you and your chat partner. This data is used to monitor and prevent misuse, such as spamming or hacking, and may be shared with law enforcement or analyzed for statistical purposes. These logs are typically retained for 120 days.

Webcam images may be captured during video chats, uploaded to Meepe.com’s servers, and reviewed for moderation purposes. These images may be stored to improve the platform’s moderation systems.

Meepe.com also offers an unmoderated video chat mode. In this mode, the monitoring described above does not occur; however, text chats are still scanned for spam, and all other rules still apply.

At the end of a Meepe.com chat, users have the option to save the chat log and share a link. Be cautious when sharing personal information, as strangers may save or share what you reveal—including screenshots or recordings.

If a chat log is saved, the text is converted into an image and stored indefinitely under a unique ID. Related data, such as IP addresses and cookies, may also be retained. IP addresses of viewers who access saved chat logs may be stored to maintain an accurate view counter.

Meepe.com may share stored data with third parties for law enforcement, compliance, or service improvement purposes.

Information Shared with Other Users

In Meepe.com text chats, the following information may be visible to your chat partner:

• Shared interests or Facebook likes (if enabled)

• Messages you send during the chat

• Notifications about shared languages (if applicable)

• Notifications if you're using Meepe.com’s mobile site

• Your college name (if both users are in college mode)

In video chats, your IP address is used to establish the connection but is not shown to the other user. If this concerns you, consider using text chat instead.

Meepe.com may notify your chat partners if you are using virtual webcam software.

Use of Cookies

Meepe.com uses cookies to store your preferences (such as added interests) and to save non-identifying technical details about your device. A randomly generated ID cookie is assigned to your computer.

Third-party advertisers, including Google AdSense, use cookies to track activity and deliver relevant ads. You can opt out of Google AdSense tracking by managing the DoubleClick DART cookie. Other third-party ad vendors may offer similar opt-out options.

Meepe.com also uses Google Analytics to gather non-identifying usage statistics. Google provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics tracking.
